Adir: So hello Jamie. Why don’t you tell us a bit about yourself and your site TEFLclips.com
Jamie: Yes hello Adir. I am a European-based English teacher, teacher trainer and writer. I have a passion for using image and video in the classroom. Also, I am a YouTube potato.
Adir: A YouTube potato?
Jamie: Yes, you know what a couch potato is? Someone who watches too much television. Well I watch too much YouTube. You see, I really believe that YouTube is one of the best resources of material the classroom has ever seen. I spend a lot of time looking for clips that my students will like – anything that is engaging, fun or interesting.
I started TEFLclips.com in February 2008. It is a site that explores the possibilities that online video offers language teachers and language learners. Every week I upload a new lesson plan and at the moment, there are over 50. Earlier this year, I won a British Council award (an ELTon) for the project. I think the judges liked it because it is non-commercial and free to use.
Adir: Any plans for the future?
Jamie: Yes, I am planning to take the site to the next stage. I want to reorganise the lesson plans. I also want to make things look nicer. Hopefully this will be happening very soon.
Adir: Thanks very much Jamie
Jamie: Thank you Adir. It’s been nice to talk to you.
