To point out has two meanings. The first one is when you show someone who a person is or where something is. Here are some examples:
He pointed out the best beaches on the map.
I tried to point it out to you, but by the time you looked it was gone.
She asked me where Jack was and I pointed out the cafe.
To point out also means to tell someone about something or correct mistaken information.
She pointed out that he was wrong.
Thank you for pointing that out.
He pointed out that we had two hours of free time before dinner.
